Footer Inspection

Success

The second inspection of the work done was for the footers. Since we’re doing a superior wall foundation we only had to check depth, which in my area is 48 inches. And because such a large portion of our basement will be below grade, we only had a few trenches that needed to be deeper then the surrounding soil.

Rain

As luck would have it, there was nasty storms for our area the two days leading up to the inspection. Thankfully they were isolated and more wind than rain. That didn’t prevent puddles from bein in the holes. However it was clear enough that they were more than deep and plenty ready.

Exploring

While waiting for the inspector to arrive, in between bouts of rain, I explored the property again. I was on the lookout for some maple trees towards the higher end of the property. This way come spring they can be tapped and I can use tubes to bring the sap down via gravity. I found several that were decent sized. I also found some pretty ace mushrooms.

Next up is gravel delivery, compacting that and getting superior wall scheduled! After the foundation is up, things should start moving much quicker, or so I’m told.
